Of course, even when it does rain, all you need is a good rain jacket and a layer or two before heading out to explore this nature lover’s paradise and all the top things to do in Sequim.

The trip only gets more memorable when you add a stay at one of our elevated cottages. Below, we’ve listed a few of our favorite ways to enjoy an outing in Sequim in the winter.

  1. It doesn’t matter the season; a trip to the iconic Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge is always at the top of our list of things to do in Sequim, WA. In the winter, a brisk coastal walk along this natural sand spit is a great way to take in the scenery, enjoy some birdwatching, and contemplate your plans for the remainder of the year.
  2. There’s no seasonality to the Olympic Discovery Trail, either. Whether biking or traversing the trail on your own two feet, this trail offers a great way to explore the area and enjoy scenic views of mountains, forests, and waterways.
  3. You don’t have to leave the beachcombing to summer. Winter is a great time of year to enjoy quiet solitude on the beaches – and it just so happens to be one of our favorite things to do in Sequim, WA. With our stunning private beach steps away from the cottages, you don’t even have to go too far!
  4. If you want to experience the Olympic Peninsula’s winter wonderland, head to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park. There, you can enjoy a beautiful snowshoe adventure through the woods. Be mindful and check the weather before the trip up. You’re required to have traction tires, and on busy weekend days, we recommend getting to the entrance gate early. Hurricane Ridge is open Friday – Sunday (and Holiday Mondays) during the winter.
  5. Don’t miss the chance to dine at one (or more) of our favorite Sequim restaurants! There are several excellent choices in town, including our personal favorites, Nourish, Stymie’s/Double Eagle Steak and Seafood, and Dockside Grill.
  6. If it does happen to be rainy in Sequim, that gives you the perfect opportunity to enjoy some wine tasting at local Olympic Peninsula wineries. In Sequim, you’ll find Wind Rose Cellars, but others are worth visiting in the area, too. These include Olympic Cellars, Harbinger Winery, and Camaraderie Cellars, all in Port Angeles.
  7. Head into downtown Sequim and enjoy some shopping. With plenty of cute boutiques and art galleries, this is one of our favorite things to do in Sequim, WA. You’ll even find some lavender-inspired gifts from local farms!
  8. If you’re in town with kids, don’t miss the chance to visit the Olympic Game Farm. It’s one of the most popular things to do in Sequim for families and is always a good time.
  9. Enjoy an evening at the 7 Cedars Casino or attend one of the many performances throughout the year. On chilly winter evenings, it’s one of the best things to do in Sequim.
